A friend I trust referred me to Dana Meyer Auto Care and I wish I had taken my car there sooner. Cal patiently answered all of my questions and the repairs came in under estimate. Easy parking and no lines. Awesome service!

This review falls in the "better late than never" category. I cannot remember the last time I wrote a second review for a business--in fact, I am not certain that I have. Rewind to last June; I entered the Twilight Zone when it came time to get my smog certification renewed. After the third attempt--and failure--to pass the smog test, I suddenly remembered the adage about the definition of insanity, and called my long-time mechanic Dana Meyer. Cat told me to bring in my car, and that they would get to the bottom of the problem. I instantly felt better because I knew that they would. They did, and not only that they did so with "warp speed" and $50.00 under the estimated cost. Seriously, when was the last time that happened to you? I cannot recommend this business highly enough. Kat is a professional in every sense of the word. She anticipates situations, and takes initiative to help to help the customer have a stress-free experience. Plus, she is really a nice person. Even though I have not interacted with the entire staff, I am certain that they are top-flight. I know this because I know Dana. I trust him completely. His business is family-owned, and it shows--time and time again.

I love, love, love this place! I’ve been coming here for 20+ years and even though I’ve moved out of the area, I still bring my car back for major and not so major services. They are thorough, honest, very good mechanics, not to mention kind with an extra customer service touch. I highly recommend Dana Meyer Auto Care!

Oh my gosh, I found my forever auto shop!! I had great anxiety, having postponed tuneups or work of any sort for a long thr(*cough*) years, due to my limited finances. I feared it would cost me an ever-increasing fortune; more so, I feared being chastised and embarrassed for having neglected my little Yaris. But a friend of mine had been waxing poetic about Dana Meyer Auto Care, noting how immensely kind they have been, to him; so, with my freelance work picking up, I finally saved enough and brought in my car. First off, Cat and the front desk team are so very warm and delightful. Cat's down-to-earth personality and good humor were encouraging, and not the slightest bit judgmental. She was mindful of my anxiety, and thoroughly explained everything they would do--a top-to-bottom assessment (which was quite informative), along with tuneup and oil change. Secondly, I found the prices perfectly reasonable--in fact, even with the additional work on my breaks, it came out to a couple of hundred less than I had anticipated. As for the negative review about their markups, nonsense: *all* shops mark up parts--so do I, when I need to make purchases on behalf of my design clients. Keep in mind, markups are, in essence, a labor expense: you are paying for another person's hours in sourcing and obtaining these items. For me, Dana Meyer's reasonable markup is welcome, in exchange for my being able spend my hours doing *my own work* of earning an income. As a freelancer, time really is money, and it's great to have a service shop I can trust to handle sourcing parts. Thirdly, that word, "care," in their company name: they took good care of my car--it feels light and smooth and solid; it purrs. They cared about me, not only as a customer, but as a human being (Cat and I totally bonded over our both being musicians!). And they care about each other--the interactions between staff were genuinely kind and familial--it felt good, being there. The Dana Meyer team did a great job on my Yaris, and I look forward to returning in March for my next service.

Fixed the car fine, friendly service, a week later belt broke - would have been nice to know it was in bad shape and needing replacement before paying for it. 12-point inspection?

In my opinion, Dana Meyer Auto Care is probably one of the most respected automotive shops in the East Bay. Having been in business in a very competitive sector since 1975, it is obvious Dana is doing something right! I’d recently taken my mother in law’s Hyundia Tucson in for a routine service, which as you might guess went flawlessly. With being in business for 44 years, Dana has been able to collect top notch staff, from his service writers to his technicians. They are true professionals in every sense. Although my service was minor, I did witness the staff giving some very sound advice to a longtime customer. This customer had been bringing the same car to Dana’s for nearly 25 years; he LOVED the car. Unfortunately however, this car now has over 300,000 miles on it and needed extensive work. Even though the customer wanted to have the work done, the staff advised him that it was not worth it, and offered to help him find a new car, and inspect it for him prior to purchase! They turned down several thousand dollars in work to do the right thing for their longtime customer. It goes without saying, but I’ll state it anyway; Dana Meyer does business in a very ethical and trustworthy manner. Don’t hesitate to take your car to Dana Meyer Auto Care!
